Lviv Polytechnic National University announces: an agreement with the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Problems has been signed
Recently, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University Professor Yuriy Bobalo and Director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Shevchenko signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence systems.
The signed document deals with the implementation of a number of activities, in particular, holding joint scientific and practical conferences, creating a research laboratory of machine learning at the University, implementation of individual projects, training of highly qualified employees and more.
The agreement was initiated by the head of the newest university department - Artificial Intelligence Systems - Professor Natalia Shakhovska. The new structural unit created in the summer of this year will search for and solve current problems in the field of development of intelligent systems, innovative information and communication technologies, robotic systems and complex research of artificial intelligence systems.
The training of specialists in this field was based on the work of Professor Yuri Nikolsky, who developed a curriculum for the specialty "Artificial Intelligence Systems" in the field of "Computer Science" in 2002 .
In October 2016, at the initiative of Professor of the Department of Information Systems and Networks Natalia Shakhovskaya and a graduate of the Department and Solutions Lead at Softserve Ivan Zagorodny, the work on modernizing the content of education began. During September of this year, the laboratories of the new department of artificial intelligence systems were equipped with computer equipment with the support of the Lviv IT cluster. Patrons of the department are companies N-ix, SoftServe, Cyklum, DIYLab.com.ua.
Professor Mykola Medikovsky, Director of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies of Lviv Polytechnic, took part in the signing of the agreement.
