 Anatoliy Ivanovich Shevchenko was born on May 17, 1948, in Bryansk Oblast, to a family of Vlas Shevchenko, who was a famous Cossak of Kozhany village, Starodubskiy regiment in the Chernigov Governorate. His grandparents, Vasilisa and Yakov Shevchenko, and his mother, Maria Yakovlevna Shevchenko, showed Anatoliy, a common country boy, the way to God.

Moving towards God subsequently determined the main purpose and meaning of Anatoliy’s life. Ever since Anatoliy was a child, his primary personality traits have started to appear: he is a self-sacrificing, God-loving, open person. Anatoliy is bold in addressing various problems, and empathetic to his friends.

He is married to Svetlana Yakovlevna, born in 1953. They have two daughters: Ella, born in 1974, and Helen, born in 1986.

Anatoliy Shevchenko had been working for the Committee for State Security (the Security Service of Ukraine) for more than 20 years. He had been serving as a reserve officer for 5 years. Honorably discharged with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

In 2003, by the order of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko was advanced to the rank of the colonel.

He graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Donetsk State University with a degree in the Radio Physics and Radio Electronics.

In 1985, Anatoliy Shevchenko defended his thesis and got a Candidate degree. In 1990, he defended his doctoral dissertation, and attained the degree of Doctor of Engineering.

In 1991, at the initiative of Anatoliy Shevchenko, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Problems under the authority of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was established. Anatoliy Shevchenko was appointed as a director of the Institute.

Anatoliy Shevchenko is an author of 157 scientific papers, 15 educational and methodical manuals for schools and higher education establishments, and a creator of 10 registered inventions.

In 1996, in conjunction with the Department of Informatics of The National Academy of Science of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko founded a scientific-theoretical journal “Artificial Intelligence”. He was appointed as a chief editor of this journal.

In 1997, at the initiative of Anatoliy Shevchenko, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine established the Donetsk State Institute of Artificial Intelligence at the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence Problems. Anatoliy Shevchenko was appointed as a rector of the Institute.

In its short period of existence, the Institute became a center of science, education and spirituality. Advanced computer technologies, which are the results of scientific research of the Institute, are in demand among educational and academic institutions, and among American, German, British, French, and Russian companies.

In 1997, at the initiative of Anatoliy Shevchenko, an academic journal “Science. Religion. Society” was founded. Professor Anatoliy Shevchenko was appointed as a chief editor of the journal.

By the presidential decree, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the title of Honored Science and Technology Figure of Ukraine for “...a significant contribution to the development of national education, and introduction of modern methods of the youth development...”.

In 1999, by a decree of the President, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the Order of Merit (Ukraine), 3rd class.

In 2000, at the initiative of Anatoliy Shevchenko and his supporters, the All-Ukrainian Party of Spirituality and Patriotism (VPDP) was established. Anatoliy Shevchenko was unanimously elected a party leader at the first All-Ukrainian congress of VPDP. Anatoliy Shevchenko promotes the principles of spirituality, love, goodness, and justice through this socio-political organization.

In 2000, Anatoliy Shevchenko defended his doctoral dissertation on the “Foundations of Christianity: path to the truth”. By the decision of the Academic Council of the Kyiv Theological Academy, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the degree of the Doctor of Divinity.

In 2001, by order of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko was appointed as a rector of the Kiev Scientific and Educational Complex "Intellect".

In 2002, he became a member of The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

In 2002, for the first time in independent Ukraine, the Constituent Great Council of Cossacks approved the post of Hetman of The Ukrainian Registered Cossacks (URC) by its decree. Anatoliy Ivanovich Shevchenko was unanimously elected to this post.

In 2004, be the decree of the President of NAS of Ukraine, professor Anatoliy Shevchenko received the Sergey Lebedev Award. The award is given to scientists for the distinguished achievements in computer technology.

In 2004, the Hetman of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks (URC) Anatoliy Ivanovich Shevchenko was awarded the title of an honorary citizen of Kulchytsi village, which is located in Sambir Raion, Lviv Oblast, of Western Ukraine. Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny was born in this village.

In 2005, he became a member of the Council of Ukrainian Cossacks under the President of Ukraine.

In 2006, European Academy of Informatization (the City of Brussels) awarded Anatoliy Shevchenko the degree of the Doctor of Philosophy. He got this degree for his scientific works, which are of practical and scientific value. His works meet the requirements of the Universally divided University of Information, which gives Anatoliy Shevchenko the rights, privileges, honor, and rewards of his degree.

Also in 2006, during the General Meeting of the NAS of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the specialty "Computer Systems".

In 2007, by the decision of the Council of the charitable foundation “Philanthropists of the motherland” (“Metsenaty Batkivschyny”), Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the Order of Ruby Cross for the significant contribution to the prosperity and revival of the World, for the greatness of soul and sincerity.

Also in 2007, in the State of Oklahoma, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded with the certificate of the Honored guest of the United States of America for the revival of spirituality and patriotism, and for the positive experience in improving relations between The United States and Ukraine in the fields of science, education, culture, and business.

In 2007, by the decree of the Presidium of NAS of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded with the certificate and the title of the Inventor of the Year. He got this award for the high performance in inventive work, and patent and license activity.

In 2007, as a result of the initiative of Anatoliy Shevchenko, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reorganized Donetsk State Institute of Artificial Intelligence into the State University of Informatics and Artificial Intelligence under the authority of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. By the decree of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Anatoliy Shevchenko was appointed as a rector of the university.

Also in 2007, by the decision of the Lubensk City Council, Poltava Oblast, Anatoliy Shevchenko became an honorary citizen of Lubny for the active public work, and patriotic education of the youth. Lybny is the site of the historical battle of hetman Severyn Nalyvaiko.

In 2007, the authorities and commune of Ruda village, Zhydachiv district , Lviv Region awarded Anatoliy Shevchenko with the title of the Honored citizen of the village of Ruda, where the ancestral home of hetman Ivan Vyhovsky is located.

In 2008, by a decree of the President, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the Order of Merit (Ukraine), 2nd class.

In 2009, Anatoliy Shevchenko, hetman of the Ukrainian Registered Cossacks (URC), was awarded the Order of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, 2nd class for a significant contribution to the development of Orthodoxy in Ukraine. This year he was also rewarded the Red Cross Medal (Mongolia).

In 2010, Anatoliy Shevchenko  was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Austrian Society Medal for the significant contribution to the development of philosophy.

Also in 2010, Anatoliy Shevchenko was awarded the unique Ukrainian-Japanese Friendship Medal for the achievements in cooperation and strengthening of friendly relations between Ukraine and Japan.

In 2011, by the decision of the collegium of the United Japanese Martial Arts Academy, Anatoliy Shevchenko was granted 9-dan in Karate. This rank is given to persons, who have reached the highest spiritual level.

Throughout his life, Anatoliy Shevchenko maintains strong interpersonal relationships, which are based upon principles of spirituality, love and truth.

Anatoliy Shevchenko is working to provide support and services for the elderly. He also takes care of homeless and street children, and helps to return them home, bring them back to schools, foster homes.

Anatoliy Shevchenko makes every effort to bring people of Ukraine together and unite them into one society, regardless of their social status and religious beliefs. Professor Anatoliy Shevchenko has officially offered a national idea of Ukraine “God. People. Ukraine” to the President and the Government of Ukraine, on the basis of which the Ukrainian nation shall be established.
